Saturday Night Reading: What’s on my list

In between working like crazy, and dealing with a baby who’s approaching the terrible two’s, I have actually been able to catch up on a little pleasure reading! I have read some amazing books lately that I wanted to share with you guys! If you’ve read a good book lately, leave me a comment so I can read it too!

Chevy Stevens book review

1. Never Let You Go: A Novel by Chevy Stevens. This is such a great book: I read it in one day! Without spoiling anything, this book deals with domestic violence, and the effects that one decision has on multiple characters. You will root for the protagonist every step of the way, and she makes a lot of good decisions, which is not the norm in books like these! There is a really good twist ending that you will not see coming! I love psychological thrillers, and the tension was just mid level with this book, but it is sooo well written! I strongly recommend this one, and any novel by Chevy Stevens!

2. The Secret Heiress by Judith Gould. This is an old book, published in 2006, but I just found it at the library, and decided to read it! This book is a tale of intrigue, coverups and scandals, mixed with a bit of salaciousness and luxe! Without giving too much away, this book is about two twin girls, who are not aware of the other’s existence. Of course one twin is evil, and the other twin is “good.” With the fate of a cooperation at stake, and the death of an innocent that must be avenged, one of the twins must be “taken care of”, if you get my drift! This was a really great book, and it moves rapidly; you won’t ever feel the need to skip ahead to move the pace along a bit. I recommend this one for a lazy morning read before brunch! This one will also be good for book clubs-no touchy topics!

3. Behind Those Eyes by T.P. Carter. This is hands down the best book I have read in a long time! This is an older book too, but new for me! This masterful work of fiction weaves a story that transcends the lifetimes of the 4 main characters involved, covering their past lives, and future incarnations. T.P. Carter makes you question whether or not soul mates truly exist, and if we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. You will fall in love with Dr. Taiyler Richardson, who is the fabulously successful, savvy, (and well-written) protaganist, and you will be just as caught up in her love triangle as she is! All of the peripheral characters are very fleshed out, and you’ll feel as though you know them as well. The book ends on a tragic note, but in keeping with the metaphysical theme, you’ll know that even in tragedy, the characters are fated to live another day. Please run to your nearest library, bookstore, or wherever you download books and read this one!
