6 Stunning Home Decor Trends I Am Loving In 2018

Each year, there are loads of different home decor trends that come in and out of fashion. I think it’s always handy to know which trends are popular, as they help you design a home that looks and feels nice and trendy. The last thing you want is a house that just feels a bit stale and out of date. This is the easiest way to fall out of love with your property!

You’re probably wondering; which home decor trends are you loving this year? Well, feast your eyes on this list, and see if you feel like adding any of these ideas to your home in 2018.

Circles Everywhere

I don’t like to generalize, but I feel as though most interior design experts moved away from patterns in the last few years. I remember going to my parent’s old house and seeing all the walls covered in elaborately patterned wallpaper, with patterns on the carpet, cushions; everywhere! Then, we seemed to move towards a more minimalist style of plain colors, plain patterns, and not a lot of elaboration. Well, in 2018, patterns are making a comeback….sort of. Okay, well, circle patterns are the new trend, so those elaborate patterns of the past still aren’t coming back! Yes, circles are the trendy thing now, with many people choosing to incorporate circular designs wherever they can in the home. Personally, my favorite implementation of this is with circle throw pillows on your bed or circle patterns on sofa cushions. This pattern works best when juxtaposed with a more simplistic and plain all-around design in a room.

Recycled/Repurposed Furniture
If you’ve been paying attention to anything in the last year or so, then you’ll know the concept of finding a new use for old things is very ‘in’. You see it in the fashion world, the beauty world, and it’s highly prominent in the home decor universe too. Basically, recycled/repurposed furniture is furniture that was once one thing and is now another thing. There are so many examples of this out there right now, from chairs made of recycled metal and wood, to things like American Country’s wine barrel furniture, which is essentially furniture made out of old wine barrels! It’s a popular home decor trend as people are looking for ways to create a home that’s more eco-friendly, and recycled furniture is a great place to start. Not only that, but most designs are quite quirky and unique too.

Lavender

Every year, there seems to be a certain color that grabs everyone’s attention and takes over the home decor world. I personally believe rose gold was the color of 2017, but it seems as though lavender is the choice for 2018. I’m fully on board with this, as lavender is a beautiful color that looks great in the home. For me, it’s a subtle shade that’s not too overpowering, making it perfect if used for wallpaper, bedspreads, or smaller things like lampshades. It’s just cute, really cute, and adds a fresh feel to your home. Plus, it’s an excuse to add some lavender flowers to your home too, which smell so delightful.

Smart Storage Ideas
This idea of smart storage is something that’s grown in popularity as the years have gone on. Realistically, homes are getting more expensive, and families are getting bigger. As a result, more and more people find themselves living in smaller homes with bigger families. The consequence of this is a significant lack of room. So, the focus goes on finding ways to save space in the home, which naturally moves the conversation to storage ideas. But, instead of just buying loads of storage furniture for your home, the trendy thing to do is buy things that have dual purposes. Things like ottoman beds that open up to reveal ample storage space underneath, or footstools that you can lift the top off and put things inside. There are so many smart storage ideas when it comes to the home these days, and they all add something extra to your home decor. The end effect is a house that looks and feels more spacious, has less clutter, but retains its practicality.

Low Hanging Lighting

Another thing I’m a big fan of is low hanging lighting. Now, this isn’t something you can incorporate into every room. Obviously, if you have low hanging lights in your hallway, then people can easily walk into them by accident! Mainly, this is an idea you utilize in your dining room or kitchen. Fundamentally, you’re using this type of lighting above your main dinner table. The light fixtures hang low above the table, which means there’s no danger of people walking into them. But, the reason I like them is because of the cool effect they give. They illuminate your dining table and create an almost restaurant-y vibe. Plus, it makes a change from the usual lighting options you have in your home – it’s good to do something different from time to time.

Two tones are better than one! Link

Two-Tone

To end, we have two-tone interior design. If you don’t know, this refers to using two main color tones to make up the design of a room. For example; white and black. Two-tone kitchens are very popular at the moment, and I think this idea, in general, is gorgeous. It’s simple, and the two colors work well with one another, creating a lovely balanced look. Of course, white and black is just one example of many, you can pretty much choose whichever two tones you want, and they can often be of the same color as well, like a light gray with a dark gray. An idea I’ve also seen is to use the two-tone design for certain elements of a room. For example; two-tone kitchen cabinets, or two-tone coffee tables.

Conclusively, these are the main home decor trends I love in 2018 so far. You know I’m always open to comments and opinions, so feel free to let me know what your favorite home decor trends are from this list. Are there any you’ll look to implement in your home? If you hate the thought of all of them, then I’d love to hear what some of your top trends are instead!

See you next time!
