Planning A Staycation With No Stress In Sight

Vacations are all about de-stressing, aren’t they? In an ideal world, a trip away would be about kicking back and not having to worry. But, this isn’t always the case. Having to worry about things like flights and hotel check ins leaves us feeling anything but chill. And that high-stress level can remain for the duration of your time away.

Enter the staycation. This is a short trip close to home which aims to provide a burst of relaxation an extended trip may not offer. Far from having to book time off work, this enables you to get away during a weekend, and return refreshed and ready.  At least, that’s the idea. In reality, it’s possible to turn even a trip like this into a lesson in stress management. Far too often, even a weekend away can involve planning and stressful experiences. To make sure that doesn’t happen, we’re going to look a few considerations which can ensure stress stays well away.

Get out of the city

This is, by far, the most critical staycation pointer. Too often, we make the mistake of thinking a city weekend break would do the trick. Weekend breaks to New York have been big business since who knows when. But, you may be better off hitting the countryside. Cities are busy, and thus stressful. You might struggle to find places to eat or get from one place to another. By comparison, Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains or Wyoming’s Yellowstone Park could serve you better. Here, you’ll be able to get stuck into nature without seeing a single person while you’re out and about. It doesn’t get better than that for letting go of your week.

Book easy accommodation

When it comes to a staycation, It’s worth keeping things simple with accommodation. If you get too fancy here, you’ll leave yourself bankrupt and thus stressed. Equally, thinking you’ll get smart with a camping trip could leave you rueing the day you ever left your bed. Don’t let it happen. Instead, look out for affordable accommodation which offers everything you could ask for. If you head to the Smoky Mountains, for instance, something like this hotel in downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee could serve you perfectly. You want somewhere which offers everything without giving you a heart attack over money. You also want somewhere which is close to your chosen destination to save on travel stress.

Steer clear of flying

Speaking of saving on travel stress, it’s also worth steering clear of flying whenever you can. Even if you aren’t a nervous flyer, checking in and passing airport security is a headache you don’t need. It may be quicker by far, but you could benefit from keeping flying off your cards. Instead, consider driving. The process of driving in itself can be relaxing. What’s more, you won’t have to worry about time restraints or rushing at any stage. So, put together a road trip playlist, and install sat nav ready on your phone. It’s time to kick back with a staycation which doesn’t stress you.
