3 Ways You Have Put Your Health (And Life!) At Risk Today

You wouldn’t purposefully step out in front of a car. You wouldn’t put your hand in a fire. And you wouldn’t jump out of a plane without a parachute. Any one of these activities could put your health and life at risk, and you don’t need us to tell you why.

But get this:

While you might not have done anything as stupid as the examples we listed above, you may have put your life at risk in other ways.

How?

#1: You haven’t booked an appointment for your cancer screenings

Cancer is still the number one cause of death around the world. According to health statistics, 1 in 2 people get cancer, and chances are, you could be the unlucky one. Thankfully, when detected early, cancer can be treated and sent into remission. The drug Topotecan, as mentioned in this article by Inspire, is one such medical treatment designed to preserve your life. But note the word ‘early.’ The longer you delay your cancer screenings, the higher the risk you are placing on your long-term survivability. So, if you haven’t attended a screening recently, book that appointment with your doctor. It could be the best thing you do today. Seriously!

#2: You have spent too much time in front of the television

Sure, there are loads of amazing shows on the TV these days (GoT anyone?) whether you’re watching through cable or on one of the numerous streaming services. But the more time you spend watching your TV, the higher the chances of long-term health conditions. The consequences of a sedentary lifestyle include heart disease, stress, and even cancer. Because you’re sat in front of the box for a long amount of time too, you are more likely to indulge in unhealthy snacks which could further sabotage your health. So, do the sensible thing and take steps to boost your health. Get off your sofa once in a while and do some exercise. You don’t have to run around the park, but you could take a stroll around the block or potter around your garden. And find something else to do with your time, such as doing a few puzzles or reading a book, as such activities will stretch your mind instead of deadening it when you’re forever glued to your television.

#3: You ordered fast food or a takeaway

Perhaps you grabbed a burger and fries while on the way home from work. Or perhaps you ordered  takeout when you arrived at home. Whatever the case, you need to understand the effects of fast food on the body. Those added calories could lead to obesity, higher cholesterol, and spikes in your insulin; any one of which could have dire consequences for your long-term health. The occasional takeout is fine, but to improve your chances of a longer and healthier life, you really should learn how to cook a few easy recipes, so you aren’t reliant on junk food. And, at the very least, you might want to grab a fresh salad box on the way home, or you might want to order from a healthy takeaway outlet, to improve your life chances.
