I want to start this post by thanking my mother (and Jesus) for blessing me with, for the most part, worry free skin. I have normal to dry skin, with most of my dryness occurring in the forehead and nose area. Fortunately, I’ve never had to deal with acne, but I do deal with dullness, uneven skin tone, and a crepe-y texture to the skin on my forehead. I have tried everything from drugstore bargain brands to Peter Thomas Roth. Some products worked, some didn’t (Clinque moisturizer…I’m looking at you!) Here are my current skincare must haves, a mix of high end and bargain finds, that are currently in rotation, and getting the job done. *Click the links to purchase!
– My current cleanser is Garnier Fructis Clearly Brighter. I stumbled across this product at Target, and figured it would be worth a try. I ended up loving it! Previously, I used Clinique Liquid Facial Soap, which worked well, but didn’t give me the brightening effect I was after. The Garnier Clearly Brighter saves me a step by cleansing AND exfoliating, and gives me a radiant glow!
-Cleaning brush: I’ve tried Clarisonic, which worked great, and is an industry leader for a reason. But the replacement cost was getting too high, and because I don’t have problematic skin, I could not justify the cost. (I’d much rather put that money into luxury handbags!!!) Since I like cleansing brushes and the spa feeling they provide, I found a much more wallet friendly version by e.l.f. cosmetics. The dual-sided cleansing brush is soft, but provides good exfoliation. I have noticed some great changes to the texture of my skin, since using this scrubber!
-I like to use serums at night after washing my face before bed. Right now I’m using Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum. A little pricey at $79 for 1oz, but it is very concentrated, and a dab will do ya! I have noticed an extreme difference in the brightness and radiance of my skin after using this product. I feel like a glow worm after putting this on. (80’s babies will get it!) I will never use another serum. This is my holy grail (at least until my skin needs change).
-For a daily moisturizer, I still stick by the tried and true Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid. It has stood the test of time, and it’s pink!!! No need to review this…it works, and I’m sure your moms, aunts, and grandmothers can vouch for it!
-I like to do weekly masks (Mask Monday really is a thing yall!), as they help me to relax and recharge with some “me time”, while benefiting my skin. As I’m sure you can tell, I adore brightening products, so I tend to go for masks that supercharge my glow. Right now, I’m alternating between Boscia Luminizing Black Mask and Yes To Grapefruit Glow Boosting Mask. The black mask works great, but can be messy to apply, especially if you have acrylic or gel nails (it gets in between my real nail and the covering). The Yes to Grapefruit mask is so easy to apply: just drape it on your face, look like a mummy for a bit, remove, and enjoy the glow!
Remember, there are professional treatments and procedures you can try out to complement your skincare routine too. Just make sure to use qualified individuals like board certified plastic surgeons to have confidence in your investment.
Well, there you have it! I hope my current skincare must haves are helpful to my readers who share the same skin type! What are some of you guys’ skincare must haves? Let me know in the comments!
See ya next time!
