Four Ways You Can Boost Your Confidence This Year

This time of year always has us reflecting on where we want to go and what we want to do. The changes we want to make, the things we want to achieve. But yet so much is focused around goals, and less about how we feel, and often, how we feel can be the biggest asset we have to achieving the goals. It is a vicious cycle. Confidence is one of those things, so it may be time that you want to think about increasing your confidence levels, but how do you do it? Here are four ways to get going with it.

Journey Within

If you’ve lived long enough, I’m sure you’ve encountered feeling less than confident a time or two. Perhaps you’ve even battled low self-esteem for a length of time. The first step is searching within and viewing yourself in a clearer (and less critical) light! Begin to rewire every negative thought about yourself into something more positive. There are many things that can get you into the positive mental headspace needed to confidently crush your goals: prayer, self-reflection, journaling, or reading self-help books that give you a framework to build upon. You may find that you don’t need to make many (if any) changes after all! ?

Think About the Things You Want to Change

One of the first things you could do is make some positive changes to the areas that are affecting your confidence. We all have parts of our body we don’t love. But sometimes these feelings can beyond dislike and really make us feel bad about ourselves or not confident. It might be that you feel unconfident in the clothes that you wear, whereas a fuller figure , weight loss, or even breast implants could help you feel better. It might be that you want to make changes to your skin, trying to overcome acne scarring. The main thing to remember is that you should do things that make you feel better about yourself. *As I stated above, true change starts from within, so before undergoing any new routines or making permanent changes, really work on getting toward a positive state of mind. Weight changes or surgeries will not miraculously lead to increased confidence if the internal factors are not addressed!*

Makeup & Clothing Can Make a Big Difference

Many women will agree that makeup can be a great armour to help you feel more confident. It isn’t something that you should rely on, we should all feel comfortable in our own skin. But a bright lipstick colour on a day when you don’t feel your best can give you the boost you need in confidence. Makeup is something that many of us would like to be better at, as we all strive for that perfect natural look. YouTube is a great resource for tutorials. Or you can even think about going online and looking up something like the best salon near me if you know you want a specific kind of look. They will be able to help you achieve the style that you are going for, and then from there you can  maintain it!

Dress to impress

Just as makeup can give you a boost so can the clothes that you wear. Are you the type of person that saves something for an occasion or for best? Are you the person that always wears the same thing over and over? Now may be the time to step out of your comfort zone. Wear the clothes that make you feel great. Wear the colors that brighten your day. Don’t be afraid to do it, life is too short to always be saving things. If you want to wear it then why shouldn’t you?

Believe In Yourself

Finally, believing in yourself is definitely something that you should try and do more of, and for a confidence boost it can be the hardest thing to do. You are a capable person. You are able to do the things that you want to do. The belief is something that can be hard to encourage, but once you do have the self-belief your confidence levels will rocket. A great place to start is with positive affirmations, and reminding yourself what you are amazing at. There will be a lot of things to be thankful for.

Let’s hope these tips help you start having more confidence for the year ahead.

See you next time!
