Keeping Your Skin Looking Vibrant This Winter

There’s much to love about the winter season. The cozy nights in, the hot chocolate, the gloves and scarves, and the rest of it. However, we can’t pretend that it’s all a box of chocolates, oh no. See, while the chilly temperatures might create a picturesque scene outside, it also does a number on our skin. That’s why it’s important to take extra steps to ensure our skin continues to look vibrant, despite the freezing weather. Below, we take a look at five ways to do this.

Protective Measures

If you’re leaving your skin to its own devices, you can’t be too annoyed that it’s not popping like it used to. During the winter, it’s all about taking preventative measures. And by that, we largely mean: moisturizing! Your skin will take a battering just as you’re going about your daily errands. A good skin moisturizer will protect and undo some of the damage, and you’ll also want to get a good exfoliator, too.

Going the Extra Mile

We spend a lot of time indoors during the winter, but it’s also party season, especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you’re in a rush to get your skin looking great again, then consider some botox treatment. It’ll give your face that youthful look again!

Stay Active

Everything in your body is hooked up. If you have healthy insides, you’ll have healthy looking skin. Simply going for a run can bring back some life to your skin. Of course, that’s easier said than done when the weather is so cold. If you don’t want to brave the outdoors for a jog, look at joining a gym. It’ll get you fit, and also give you something to do when the nights have drawn in early. It’s better than watching TV (well, kinda…).

Eat and Drink Well

It’s tempting to indulge during the chillier periods of the year. And we can understand why: when you get in from a long day of braving the cold, there’s nothing more inviting than the prospect of warming up with some delicious foods. It’s important to remember that ‘delicious’ doesn’t always equal ‘healthy,’ however. If you’re eating too much food that isn’t good for you, then your skin could end up looking dull and lifeless, so take the time to learn how to cook some bona fide ‘good for your skin’ meals. Also, it’s worth remembering that you can still get dehydrated during the winter, so drink plenty of water – or, even better, cucumber water.

Hit The Sun

Finally, remember that there is a tried and tested method of going that healthy glow back to your skin – and, we have to admit, it’s pretty darn fun, too. Take a vacation! Most people plan on taking their trips during the summer, but isn’t it better to hit sunnier climates when the weather outside is unbearably cold? After a week of being in the sun, you’ll have that tan back, and will be able to return home looking like the most vibrant person around. Nice!
